For many, our understanding of this is somehow based on the Revolutionary War when men fought for release from the bondage of England more than two hundred years ago. The message is amplified across the land every time we bury one of our soldiers who gave his or her life fighting so tyranny and oppression not only stay a distance from us but is pushed aside giving others hope of freedom.
It seems that something as basic as freedom should not have to be paid for with the blood of our sons and daughters? Yet, it is and will continue to be until this earth passes away.
Freedom from sin and spiritual bondage is also not free, but it is available to all. However, this freedom is not paid for by the death of our sons and daughters but by the death of God’s Son. May we never take it for granted.
